The Fellowship of Christian Athletes was started in 1954 by a man named Don McClanen as a way to bring God onto
the field of play. FCA's mission is this: "To present to athletes and coaches,
and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ
as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship
of the church." FCA is Christ Centered, Bible based, Spiritually nurturing,
Church involved, School identified, Athletically focused, Volunteer intensive,
and Faith funded. FCA is now headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, with Dal Shealy as president. The first FCA camp was held in Estes Park, Colorado, with 256 attendees. Today, FCA camps nation wide attract more then 17000 coaches and athletes each summer. FCA's huddles in schools across the nation consist of an estimated 250,000 - 400.000 students.
